Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned:  Or, on a chevron reversed wavy counter wavy Azure two chevronels reversed wavy counter wavy Gules, in chief two mullets of the like.  Attached to base a Red scroll inscribed "INVICTUS SCUTUM" in Gold letters.  The shield is supported by a dragon Vert detailed Silver Gray, head turned over to sinister fore limb and wings at the top with the tail wrapped around the bottom of the scroll.

Symbolism
Cobalt blue and golden yellow are the Chemical branch colors.  The chevron reversed wavy demonstrates a blending of different substances symbolizing a chemical mixture.  The chevron reversed represents the Roman numeral for five, the number of battle campaigns this unit participated in.  The two stars are for the Meritorious Unit Citations the unit received during the Korean Conflict.  The dragon has long been a symbol for the Chemical Corps.  The motto translates to "Invincible Shield."

The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 16 September 2011.

Crest

That for regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve:  From a wreath Or and Azure, the Lexington Minute Man Proper.  The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, Sculptor), stands on the common in Lexington, Massachusetts.
